Thiruvananthapuram: The scope of the investigation into the Public Service Commission exam irregularities has increased after the Crime Branch took over the probe. PSC requested a thorough investigation into the matter to the DGP today.
The PSC had earlier requested the state police to investigate the phone records of those civil police officers who made into the top 100 in each of the 8 rank lists.
The PSC exam fraud came to light when it was revealed that SFI leaders accused in a stabbing case had used the help of mobile phones to cheat in the PSC exam. This has led the PSC to check if others have entered the rank list through foul methods.
The PSC vigilance department had found that SFI leaders Shivaranjith and Naseem had cheated in the exam to achieve top position in the rank list. The duo were arrested for stabbing a fellow student in University College in Thiruvananthapuram.
Police investigations found the University exam answer sheets at Shivaranjith’s house. Answer sheets were also found in a classroom at the college which is used as SFI office. This points to a big conspiracy to do fraud in public exams to help SFI leaders pass the examinations.
When it was found out that both the accused secured top rank in the PSC exam suspicion grew and PSC conducted an investigations that led to the shocking revelation that they cheated in the exams.
