Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain lashes out in almost all districts in the state. Strong wind and rain has been disrupting the normal life since last day. Red alert issued in Malappuram, Wayanad, Idukki and Kannur. Authorities have declared holiday for educational institutions in Malappuram, Idukki, Wayanad as well as Kasargod.
Road and rail traffic has been badly affected in various parts of the state. Many families shifted to relief camps. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan chaired a high level meeting in the wake of incessant rains. Weather department informed that heavy downpour is likely to last till Saturday. NDRF has reached at Nialambur and Idukki for rescue operations.
