Thiruvananthapuram: Arif Mohammad Khan, presently Kerala Governor-designate reached at the state’s capital city on Thursday.
Khan was appointed as the Governor of Kerala on September 1 and will be sworn-in on Friday. The oath of office would be administered by the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court.
Khan will take over the constitutional post by replacing Justice (Retd.) Palanisamy Sathasivam.
During Rajiv Gandhi Congress government Khan resigned from the position of Minister of state after protesting against Gandhi’s stand on Shah Bano case in 1986. He also opposed triple talaq and said that it should be punishable with 3 years in jail. He is actively involved in policy-making and Islam reformation
