Thiruvananthapuram: A local court in Thiruvananthapuram has issued an arrest warrant against Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Shashi Tharoor, in a case of defaming Hindu women in one of his books.
The warrant has been issued by the Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial First Class Magistrate after Tharoor failed to appear in court or sent his lawyer.
The controversial statement is in his work of fiction, ‘The Great Indian Novel’. In it, one of his characters speak in a tone that depicts Nair women as immoral. This controversial line from his novel had disturbed the women of the community to a large extend.
There were campaigns seeking his apology for depicting women of Hindu community as immoral.
