Alappuzha: A Malayali who was brutally tortured in Malaysia for seeking his salary dues has finally returned to India.
Haridas (45) arrived at Chennai airport and has left to his native Haripad in Alappuzha district.
He was offered a salary of Rs 30,000 but often received half the money. He has not been getting salary for seven months. Haridas had to suffer brutal treatment including burn injuries that was inflicted on him using a heated iron rod.
He was allegedly attacked when he asked for the salary dues.
The pictures of the assault were shared by his co-worker to his family via WhatsApp. Though Haridas mentioned about the burns when he called home on Sunday, he did not give details.
Haridas’ wife had lodged a complaint with the collector demanding that her husband be returned home as soon as possible.
