Malappuram: A week after reporting first case of bird flu outbreak in Kozhikode, Parapanangadi has also now reported with the flu.
Kerala government has ordered poultry culling within 1 km radius of the epicentre.
Disease Inspection Office said, “10 special squads have been deployed to cull all poultry within 1 km radius of the epicentre”.
Animal Husbandry Department sources said bird flu or avian influenza in poultry with LPAI virus may cause no disease or mild illness or may show mild signs, which may not be detected.
Infection of poultry with HPAI virus can cause severe disease with high mortality, as per sources.
