Kannur: A prisoner from Kannur Central Jail has apparently escaped, who was under observation in coronavirus ward. Ajay Babu, a native of Uttar Pradesh has violated the lockdown norms.
He was arrested for robbery at Kasaragod Canara Bank. Ajay Babu was later brought to Kannur Central Jail on March 25 and was taken to observation ward in the jail as Kasaragod witnesses the highest number of coronavirus cases in the state.
Evidently, he broke the ventilation in the observation ward and escaped.
The police is monitoring all the CCTV footage nearby and the search for the prisoner has been intensified.
