Thiruvananthapuram: The KSRTC have resumed its services from Wednesday, long after it was ceased due to the outbreak of COVID-19. It has started the services in major cities including Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode.
However, only intra-district services are being made from 7 am to 7 pm. Only 50 per cent staff will be working for the service.
Transport minister A K Saseendran had made it clear on Tuesday that a total of 1850 schedule services will be started in the state on district basis. Only ordinary bus services will ply and it will be conducted according to the requirement and number of passengers.
Passengers are to follow strict guidelines owing to preventive measures of coronavirus. They will have to board the bus through rear door and alight from front door. Also they have to wear masks and sanitize their hands before boarding the bus and maintain social distancing.
A total of 499 services will be available in Thiruvananthapuram district, 208 in Kollam, 93 in Pathanamthitta, 122 in Alappuzha, 102 in Kottayam, 66 in Idukki, 206 in Ernakulam, 92 in Thrissur, 65 in Palakkad, 49 in Malappuram, 83 in Kozhikode, 97 in Wayanad, 100 in Kannur and 68 in Kasaragod.
Also autorickshaws can resume their services in the state.
