Alappuzha: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala and 19 other Congress workers have been booked by the Ambalappuzha police for violating social distancing norms during a protest against mineral sand mining on Sunday at Thottappally.
Chennithala on Sunday visited Thottappally estuary and Congress’ relay satyagraha to mark their protest against mineral sand mining.
The Congress workers alleged that the CPM government is carrying out mineral sand mining in the pretext of clearing sand to avoid flooding.
Ambalappuzha circle inspector T Manoj said the case had been registered for violating social distancing norms. They have been booked under Kerala Epidemic Diseases Ordinance 2020.
The case has also been registered against Former MLA and KPCC general Secretary AA Shukoor, and DCC president Advocate M Liju.
