Thiruvananthapuram: CPM’s ally CPI has denounced the government’s decision to proceed with the Athirappilly project. CPI and its youth association AIYF have protested against the move.
CPI states that the project will cause harm to the environment.
Recently, the government has given nod to KSEB to go ahead with the planned project and on Tuesday, the government issued NOC. Following this development, CPI and AIYF have come forward expressing their disinterest in the project.
The hydroelectric project will devastate the land of Athirappilly waterfalls. The forest land near the catchment area will be plunged and the KSEB has planned to generate 163 MW power from this project.
