Kochi: Actress Shamna Kasim was blackmailed by four persons and tried to extort money from her. Further on a complaint filed by the actress’s mother, the Maradu police arrested all the four accused.
The accused have been identified as Sarath, Ashraf, Rafeeq and Ramesh, all belonging to Thrissur.
Shamna Kasim is a leading actress in South India. The incident happened some while ago, however her mother said that she could not file a complaint in the wake of coronavirus lockdown.
They reached Shamna’s house in the pretext of marriage proposal. They pretended to be as Kozhikode natives and family members of the groom. Reportedly, they demanded Rs 1 lakh over the phone and threatened to spoil her career if not complied to their demand.
In the complaint it is also mentioned that the men were seen near the premises of the actress’s house to click pictures.
The four accused have been remanded to judicial custody and the probe is underway.
