Kochi: There has been a spike of coronavirus cases being infected through contact in Kochi. In this regard, the administration has decided to impose strict regulations. The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by minister VS Sunil Kumar.

It has been directed that people should not get out of their homes unnecessarily otherwise strict legal action will be taken against those violating the directions. The police and the health department will jointly conduct inspections to ensure that people are complying with regulations.

One person was diagnosed with the disease at the Ernakulam market yesterday. Soon after, six people were diagnosed with the disease through contact yesterday. It is in this context that the authorities have decided to impose strict regulations.

The Minister said that people with symptoms should report to the health department and hiding the disease is offensive. He said that if the cases surge in this metro city, the condition will be worsened.

The Minister also said that social distancing must be strictly followed.
