Thiruvananthapuram: The NIA has taken into custody the vehicle of Swapna Suresh, one of the main accused in the gold smuggling case. The car owned by Swapna with registration number KL 01 CJ 1981 was taken into NIA custody. Swapna and Sandeep fled to Bengaluru from Thiruvananthapuram in this vehicle.
After the gold smuggling case came to light, Swapna Suresh went into hiding. In the first phase, there were reports that she is in Ernakulam.
Soon after NIA took over the case, they nabbed Swapna from Bengaluru. Questions have been raised as to how Swapna left the state despite strict restrictions in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
Swapna and her family went to Bangalore with Sandeep, another accused in the case. It was found that Sandeep was driving the vehicle. They entered Bangalore in a Maruti S-Cross vehicle.
