Thiruvananthapuram: In the heated case of gold smuggling, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has found links of Popular Front of India (PFI) in the case.
The finding comes after two fresh arrests were recorded by the anti-terror agency on Saturday. Muhammad Ali Ebrahim and Muhammad Ali were held by the NIA on Saturday after they were found to be part of the conspiracy.
The two arrested were involved in aiding and assisting another arrested accused Jalal AM in collecting the smuggled gold from Ramees KT at the state’s capital. They were also involved in other illegal activities too.
NIA team has learnt that Muhammad Ali is a member of the PFI and was earlier charge-sheeted by Kerala Police in ‘Professor’s Palm Chopping Case’ but got acquitted after trial in 2015.
The NIA has so far arrested 10 people linked to the case.
