Thiruvananthapuram: The incessant downpour in the last two days have started creating trouble for the people.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Malappuram, Idukki and Wayanad districts on Friday.
An orange alert has been sounded in nine districts including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
The state government has set up a 24-hour functioning control room and said caution will be exercised in the districts of Idukki, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Palakkad which are prone to landslides.
Earlier today, at least five have been reportedly killed in a massive landslide at Rajamala in Munnar of Idukki district. While ten were rescued, seventy more are feared to be trapped under the debris.
