Kochi: In connection with the fire at the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram, Yuva Morcha staged protest that led to a clash in Kochi. Several people, including Yuva Morcha state general secretary P Syam Raj, were injured in the police lathi charge. They were marching to the IG’s office.

Yuva Morcha organized a march demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, for his office’s involvement in the gold smuggling and burning files in the Secretariat. The march from Menaka Junction to the IG’s office on the initiative of Ernakulam District Committee was stopped by the police at St. Teresa’s College premises.

Further, police resorted to lathi charge against those who tried to cross the barricade.

Yuva Morcha state general secretary Syam Raj, district president Vishnu Suresh, secretary Hari, Vaishakh Raveendran, Lipish and Ambadi Vazhayil were injured.

Inaugurating the march, Syam Raj said that those who speak for the people under the LDF rule are inside the jail and those who exploited the people are outside the jail. He said this is only a beginning of a series of protests against the government, who is giving a shield to all the criminals.
