Karipur: During a vehicle check, a car rammed on to the two-wheeler of DRI officials near the airport on Sunday.
The DRI officials had stopped an Innova car bearing regsitration number KL 16 R 5005 when it came out of the airport. When they were further questioned on identification, the car speeded forward ramming the bike of the DRI officials.
However, the driver in the car could not escape as he lost control and rammed on a tree on the side of the road.
One tried to escape from the spot but was taken into custody.
Two DRI officials sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode.
Gold in compound form,weighing 4.3 kg was recovered from the vehicle. A statement is being recorded from the smuggler whose escape bid was foiled. Further investigation is underway.
