Coimbatore: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took into custody a gold merchant from Coimbatore in connection with the high profile gold smuggling case.
The NIA suspects that gold merchant Nandakumar the smuggled gold reached to him from Thiruvananthapuram airport.
A 4-member team headed by DSP Shoukathali raided his house on Wednesday morning and then he was taken for further interrogation. According to locals, Nandakumar became wealth in a short period of time.
The NIA suspects that he managed to acquire wealth through gold smuggling.
