Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP is in complete disagreement with the decision to postpone the local body elections in the state, said BJP state president K Surendran on Thursday. Postponement of local body elections will affect development activities in the state. However, Surendran told reporters that there was no need for assembly by-elections in the state for a period of only four months.
“Both the LDF and the UDF fear defeat. The gold smuggling case and the drug case against the Chief Minister’s office and the questioning of the son of the party state secretary by the central agencies have tarnished the image of the government. The CPM and the LDF have completely lost public confidence,” said Surendran.
“The UDF also fears defeat. This is because of the leadership issues within the Congress, the withdrawal of the Kerala Congress from the Front and the rift within the UDF. The UDF ‘s position that the local body elections should be postponed if the by-elections are to be postponed is strange,” he added.
“The BJP agrees with the State Election Commission’s decision to hold the elections in accordance with the corona norms. The BJP will announce its stance at the all-party meeting. It is not the election date but the method that needs to be changed,” said K Surendran.
“The CPM and state leadership should comment on the stand taken on Bineesh Kodiyeri. Bineesh Kodiyeri has carried out all the scams under the cover of the AKG Center and the government. Bineesh Kodiyeri was caught red-handed becuase of the investigation by the central agencies,” he alleged.
K Surendran also demanded that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan resign as party secretary if there is political morality and open all avenues for investigation.
