Kochi: It is being hinted that the state intelligence unit is leaking the activities of the central agencies in the gold smuggling case to the state government. There are reports that the joint review meeting of the investigation agencies which was supposed to be held in Kochi today has been postponed due to the leak of information to the government.
The meeting, which was to be attended by the Chief Commissioner of Customs, was adjourned.
With this, it is learned that the Central IB is monitoring the activities of the state intelligence unit. It is alleged that the Special Branch has leaked the details of the conversation between the Assistant Solicitor General and the ED Special Director.
The state intelligence unit is making such a move to hamper the investigation as the case involves high-ranking officials of the state government. However, there are indications that the Union Home Ministry has intervened in the matter.
