Palakkad: Malayalam poet Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri will be conferred with the Jnanpith award at Kumaranellur today.
The ceremony will be held at his residence ‘Devayanam’ adhering to COVID protocol.
The 93-year-old was selected for the 55th Jnanpith award announced in 2019 and the award includes a cash prize of Rs 11 lakh and a bronze sculpture of Goddess Saraswati.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is inaugurating the award function virtually. Minister AK Balan will hand over the honour to Akkitham.
