Kochi: The Palarivattom flyover’s demolition process has began on Monday morning. The government aims to reconstructing the flyover within 8 months.
Before the demolition, a pooja ceremony was conducted and the initial works of demolition began by 9 am.
At first, the tarring will be removed totally and then 15 out of the 17 spans will be cut into pieces. One span is composed of 6 girders. Span is seen in the form of a box between two pillars. Deck slab is concreted above these spans.
Metro Man E Sreedharan has directed his team to ramp up the work in order to complete the project in the stipulated time.
