Kochi: The Unitac company has come out with a revelation that Swapna Suresh, the key accused in the gold smuggling case, had demanded five iphones of which one was given to the Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala in 2019.
The Unitac company which is involved in the Life Mission project in Wadakkancherry stated this in a plea filed against the CBI probe. They also produced the bill of the same.
Swapna Suresh had asked for the mobile phones to present it as a gift for the guests who attended UAE national day celebrations, which was also apparently attended by Ramesh Chennithala.
Unitac also stated in the plea that they provided commission as the UAE consulate requested through Swapna Suresh, expecting more contracts in future other than from the Wadakkancherry project.
In the plea, the Unitac stated that over Rs 3.80 crore was handed over as US Dollars to UAE consulate financial wing head and Rs 68 lakh was transferred to Isomo Trading Company’s account owned by Sandeep Nair, another accused in the gold smuggling case.
