Kerala: BJP lashes out at state govt; Says 144 announced not to contain COVID-19 but to escape from protests against corruption

Thrissur: BJP state president K Surendran on Friday lashed out at state government saying that it announced 144 in the state not to contain the spread of coronavirus but to escape from the protests against corruption.

He was inaugurating the state level BJP-led agitation in Thrissur demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister who was involved in gold smuggling and Life Mission corruption.

Surendran said that the LDF government is trying to impose the black law which is nowhere in India. The government is trying to silence the people when many CPM leaders are about to be caught. The Chief Minister should not think that the people can be imprisoned by declaring 144.

Surendran said the public and the BJP would not accept this. However, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala will comply with CM Pinarayi Vijayan. The government is exercising excessive power. When everything in the country is getting back to normalcy, a state of emergency is being declared in Kerala.

“We are not against sealing any particular areas, but should not seal up the entire state,” Surendran said.
