Thiruvananthapuram: The bars in the state will not reopen soon as the cases of the coronavirus disease is increasing day by day. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting convened by the Chief Minister on Thursday.
The government evaluated that it would be a risk to open the bars immediately after the state recorded highest number of cases with more than 10,000 cases yesterday only.
However, the parcel sales of the liquor will continue in the state.
The Excise Commissioner had earlier in a report submitted to the government had recommended to reopen bars. However, the government has now decided not to reopen the bars soon.
