Thiruvananthapuram : Can not share the dais with CM who does not protect Sabarimala tradition said, V Muraleedharan MP. Muraleedharan boycotted Kerala Journalists Union Conference, the program which CM inaugurates.
In democratic system, religious freedom is as important as press freedom. Worship is a part of the freedom of religion. The legislature has the responsibility to ensure these. The events taking place in Sabarimala in recent days are not democratic, said Muraleedharan.
We are witnessing the Police snatching the control of Sabarimala from the Devaswom. Police raj in its all literal meaning is what Sabarimala is subjected to. Arrests of pilgrims who go to Sabarimala with following all the rituals is not acceptable. The victims of police brutality includes Sasikala Teacher and K Surendran as well.
CM has the responsibility to protect the peoples religious sentiments and it is bitter to see the same person is leading the unconstitutional actions.
Muraleedharan said that, the idea of sharing a venue with a such a person would be inappropriate for his own conscience. He also took the opportunity to appreciate the dedication of media workers who work in all the adverse conditions.
