Kochi: Noose tightens for former principal secretary to Chief Minister, M Sivasankar. The Enforcement Directorate questioned Sivasankar for the third time that lasted for eight and a half hours.
Sivasankar denied his CA P Venugopal’s statement that he opened a locker for Swapna Suresh, the main accused in the gold smuggling case, as per former’s instructions. Sivasankar explained to ED that he directed Venugopal only to give financial advice to Swapna regarding the locker opening. Sivasankar also told ED that he introduced Swapna to Venugopal as a close friend.
The Kerala High Court on Thursday directed that M Sivasankar shall not be arrested till October 23 in connection with the gold smuggling case after which he was questioned by the ED for the third time.
The interrogation was based on air travels, bank transaction records and digital evidence since 2016.
