Palakkad: The High Court acquitted accused BJP-RSS workers in connection with twin murder of CPM members in Malampuzha. The High Court quashed the life imprisonment sentence of five accused namely Manikandan, Rajesh, Murugadas, Suresh and Girish.
The incident took place on October 29, 2007 when CPM workers Gopalakrishnan and Raveendran got murdered. The case was filed alleging that RSS and BJP workers were behind the incident. The case was highly noted as the incident happened in VS Achuthanandan’s constituency who was then the Chief Minister.
The High Court observed that the prosecution could not provide any valid evidence to prove that the accused were involved in the crime. The BJP had earlier said that the party members were deliberately locked in the case as a matter of political rivalry.
