Kochi: Sarith, accused in the gold smuggling case, in his statement to the Vigilance stated that there was a conspiracy in the Wadakkancherry Life Mission project. The vigilance team went to Viyur Jail and questioned Sarith after getting permission from the NIA court.
The statement claims that Sarith had told Sandeep (another accused) about the Life Mission project. Sarith however said that he lacks knowledge of M Sivasankar’s role in the project. Sarith said that he had told Sandeep about the contract for the project.
The investigation team had earlier found that Sarith was brought to the Unitac company by Sandeep and that the latter reached out to Santosh Eapen through an employee.
