Palakkad: The retrial in the Walayar sexual abuse case will start from today. Following the High Court order to conduct the retrial, all the three accused in the case will appear before the Palakkad POCSO court.
The accused in the sexual abuse case V S Madhu, Shibu and M Madhu were released by the Palakkad POCSO Court earlier, citing the lack of evidence. The High Court ordered a retrial in the case on a petition filed by the government and the parents of the girl children. The case is being considered in the same court which acquitted the accused.
The parents of the children said that they demand a CBI probe into the case. The government will inform the court of its position in this regard. There are indications that the Special Investigation Team will also submit an application seeking permission for reinvestigation of the case.
