Thrissur : A young poet has alleged that Deepa Nishant stole his poetry. Sree Kerala Varma College lecturer Deepa Nishant is accused of plagiarism. The poetry “Angne irikke marichu poyi njan” has subjected to slight changes and the its renamed to “Angineyirikke” and published in her name, in the magazine by the college teacher’s organization.

Young poet Kalesh says that Deepa Nishant has stolen his poem, which was published in his blog in the year 2011 following which in the same year the poem was published by the weekly Madhyamam. He expressed his disappointment in his face book post to see his creativity tagged under someone else’s name.

In 2011 when the “Angne irikke marichu poyi njan / nee” was published online it received the best response of the time. Through that poem I got a lot of new friends. After my poem published in the weekly, A J Thomas suggested to translate it into English and C S Venkiteswaran translated into English and the English version was published in Indian Literature.

The poem found its place even in Sabdamahasamudram in 2015. “Last day I came to know from friends and friends of friends that my poem has been published under someone else’s name with most of the line exactly as the same and a few with minute changes. The plagiarized poem is published in the journal by AKPCTA”. Kalesh added that he felt sad. What else can he feel Kalesh concludes his face book post.
