Thiruvananthapuram : After the flood the tax for liquor was raised to get more income, the same has been reduced now. The excise duty of alcohol was raised to 27% from 23%. The hike was withdrawn. The Indian made foreign liquor’s excise duties are also reduced.
The excise duty on alcohol has been raised to raise funds to deal with the floods. The hike was valid until the 30th of November.
From today the rate of alcohol will be revised.
With the rise in excise duty, it is estimated that Rs 230 crore have reached the Government treasury.
