New Delhi : Congo fever has been reported in the State for the first time. Alert at borders and hospitals. A resident of Malappuram, who was abroad, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thrissur.
Following his symptoms the individual was admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur, on last 27th.
The patient took a train from Kanyakumari to reach the hospital. Health Minister K K Shailaja said that, the disease will not spread to others.
The spread of the disease from animals to humans is considered, through bugs which feed on the infected animals. Nairobi sheep disease virus (NSDV) is considered to be the carrier of the disease. When affected with fever 40% is the death rate reported.
Blood of the affected person and body fluids are the medium through which the virus transmits to another. Fever, muscle pain, back pain, headache, sore throat, stomach pain, eyesight disturbance are the main symptoms of Congo fever.
