Sabarimala : Even though sales of Aravana plunged down,free Aravana distribution for the police has made new record. Previous year the free tins distributed to police by TDB in the whole of the pilgrimage season were 5300 and this year within first 13 days of darshan season TDB was forced to distribute 6370 tins of free Aravana. It is illegal to demand money or any other materials.. But police with official letter are in demand for free Aravana.
Free Aravana tins are demanded with the aid of official letters by the police who are assigned for duty even at Nilakkal. The liability of more than Rs 30 lakh is being imposed on TDB just by the police authority.
The Devaswom Commissioner, N. Vasu has opposed the denial of this audit by High Court.
