Thiruvananthapuram: The ayyappa devotee who attempted suicide before the BJP protest venue near secretariat dies at the Medical College Hospital. Venugopalan Nair is a native of Muttada, Thiruvananthapuram.
The devotee attempted suicide early this morning. Venugopalan Nair, after pouring petrol all over his body, attempted self immolation and ran towards the make-shift tent where BJP protest hunger strike over Sabarimala issue. Venugopalan Nair even when in flames was chanting sarana manthras. BJP workers and police took him to the hospital but could not save his life.
