Thiruvananthapuram: Gold has touched a record hike today as the rate for eight grams is Rs. 24600. One gram costs Rs. 3075.
Price hike is due to the demand of gold ahead of wedding season as well as due to the depreciation of Indian rupee.
In earlier years upto 1000 tonnes of gold had been imported per year but now it is around 800 tonnes. By this year end, gold rate is expected to cross 1400 dollars in international market.
