Kochi: In a strong condemnation of the recent political killings, the High Court of Kerala said that ideologies that encourage the elimination of political rivals must be rejected. The Court’s observation comes while rejecting the bail plea of CPI(M) workers accused in Mattanur Shuhaib murder case.
The High Court also said that these ideologies have no place in modern civilization.
While denying the bail petition of Akash Thillankeri, T K Askar, K Akhil and C S Deepchand the Court said that the murder was well planned and committed by a professional group.
The Court said that it is not possible to give bail to those involved in this heinous crime.
Shuhaib was killed on the midnight of 12th February 2018 while he was having food in a tea stall at Theroor in Kannur District. The group hacked Shuhaib to death after hurling bombs to create panic and fear.
The killer gang also prevented those who tried to take Shuhaib to a hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries at Kozhikode Medical Hospital.
Reports suggest that the Communist Party was trying to protect Akash Thillankeri and Deepchand.
