Transman Praveen’s death: ‘Sahayathrika’ releases statement outlining the physcial and sexual abuse Praveen suffered from his partner Rishana

Trissur: The organization Sahayathrika, which works for the LGBTQ community has released a statement which brings out the role of Rishana in the death of transman Praveen Nath by suicide. In the statement, Sahayathrika says that Praveen had to face mental and sexual abuse.

The statement also said that Praveen’s family have decided to go forward legally to find justice.

Sahayathirka’s statement is an edited version of the earlier statement that the organziation released. However, the earlier version contained descriptions that might cause disturbance to people for its graphic details.

Praveen and Rishana got married on February 14 in a widely publicised wedding function and their photos and videos had gone viral. Praveen died on May 4 after consuming poison.

The organization’s statement said that Praveen had suffered physical and mental abuse between April 2 and April 20. On April 20th he was subjected to physical, mental and physical torture. Praveen was hurt using knife, suffocated, bound up, and threatened to publicise video showing Praveen, a transman being humiliated.

Sahayathrika says that Praveen was undergoing depression before his death. He was also affected by the cyber attacks on FB. He tried to maintain that their family life was normal and a model for others.

The organization goes on to detail the abuse and torture that Praveen had revealed. The timings of the incidents and the proof of it. He was admitted to hospital on April 22. He had revealed his experiences at the District Hospital and also at the ENT department. He was taken to the ENT department because he had bruises after being choked by Rishana.

On April 23 he underwent endoscopy at Trissur Medical College. His statement given there is also recorded.
