Kasargod: The Kerala Police will produce the main accused A. Peethabaran, Local Committe Member of CPI(M), in court today following his arrest in the brutal double murder of Congress workers.
Peethabaran will be brought before the Hosdurg Judicial Magistrate by 11am. The police suspect that Peethabaran had initiated and planned the hit on Youth Congress leaders Kripesh and Sarath Lal. Two others are also reported to be in custody. The police have identified the car in which the accused were travelling.
The Communist Party in the State has been on the back foot since two young men were brutally murdered in broad daylight at Periya, Kasargod. Though, communist leaders first tried to distance the party from the killings, the arrest of their local level leaders has clearly put the CPI(M) in a predicament.
In a related incident, the wife and daughter of the accused A. Peethambaran has said that he would not commit such a crime without the order of the Communist Party. His daughter also accused the party for abandoning Peethambaran after the murders.
