Kasargod: In another major blow to CPI(M), Devika, the daughter of A. Peethabaran who was arrested in connection with the political murders of two Youth Congress workers has lashed out at the party. She was angry that the Communist Party had abandoned her father after they used him to kill their political rivals.
Devika explained that her father was thrown out of the party to save face before the Lok Sabha elections.
Manju, wife of Peethambaran and Devika’s mother also came out against the party. She said that her husband would not commit a crime without specific orders from the party. This flies in the face of CPI(M) leadership which is trying hard to disassociate the party from the murders.
Peethambaran, the prime accused in the double murder of Youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sarath Lal, is the Local Committee member of the CPI(M).
The political killings have put the Communist party on back foot, while it was gearing up for Lok Sabha elections. Widespread criticism of the CPI(M)’s terror tactics and the brutality of the killings have made the party’s Kerala Samrakshna Yatra led by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan lose its steam.
