Kollam: Sandeep, the accused in Dr Vandana Das murder case, has been remanded to Crime Branch custody for five days. Advocate BA Aloor represented Sandeep in the First Class Magistrate Court in Kottarakara. He argued that the accused cannot be sent to judicial custody as he is injured on left leg and has health issues. The court dismissed his request but directed to provide medical assistance to Sandeep.

The court stated that custody interrogation is necessary and the advocate can meet the accused on alternative days for 15 minutes in the presence of investigating officer.

The prosecution demanded to get the accused into custody stating the need to examine his mental state. The court approved this and sent Sandeep to custody.  The court also directed to produce the accused before medical board. Protests erupted in the court premises when the accused was produced before court.
