Alappuzha: CPI(M) activist and district panchayat member, Bibin C Babu, revealed that the communist party had a role in the murder of INTUC leader, Sathyan in 2001. Bibin revealed the role of the communist party in a letter he shot to the CPI(M) State Secretary, MV Govindan. All the accused in the murder of Sathyan were acquitted by the court in 2006. However, Bibin’s current revelation throws more new light in to the case.
In his letter, Bibin C Babu, said that he was made an accused in Sathyan’s murder case, when he was just nineteen years old and was put in jail for sixty-five days. He also added that he is willing to relinquish his post.
The letter comes at a time of intense in-fighting that is currently going on in the communist party in Alappuzha.
In the letter, the communist leader says that it is very difficult to work in the party and is facing mental distress. The leadership is not ready to find solution to the complaints. However the party leadership is in support of one group who is engaged in anti-party activities.
Bibin writes in the letter that he had been with the communist party for the past fourteen years since his student days. He said that 36 cases were registered against him during his time in student politics.
He goes on to tell that INTUC leader, Sathyan, was killed in a conspiracy hatched by the CPI(M). Sathyan was a RSS worker before he joined the INTUC. Bibin said that he was made an accused in the case though he was innocent. He had to endure 65 days in jail as part of it.
Bibin also accused local CPI(M) leader KH Baburaj for raising allegations against him based on a personal issue in his family and preventing him from working in the party. He said that it was Baburaj’s decision which led to his demotion in the party.
While offering his willingness to step down from post of district panchayat member, Bibin said that party leaders are trying to settle personal scores with him.
