Kasargod: In an embarrassing incident, the people resisted the attempts of CPI(M) Central Committee member and Member of Parliament P. Karunakaran to visit the homes of slain Youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sarath Lal.
The Communist leader along with his entourage was stopped en-route to the victims’ homes by congress workers and women who reacted emotionally by hurling abuses at the Communist party. They asked if the leader was there to kill their children.
After the Minister was blocked from visiting the victims’s homes, he proceeded to visit the office of the Communist party and houses of those attacked in retaliation to the killings. The group also had time to visit the family of the accused and CPI(M) Local Committee member Peethambaran and promised all help to them.
The Communist party later resorted to violence and attacked the homes of Congress workers for blocking the Minister’s visit.
