Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will travel to the United States and Cuba from June 8–18 after the Central Government granted him permission. The external affairs ministry granted the approval today, and the CM’s office has confirmed he will leave for his trip on June 6.
Finance minister K N Balagopal, speaker AN Shamseer, chief secretary VP Joy, Planning Board vice-chairman VK Ramachandran, principal secretary to the chief minister K M Abraham, and other IAS officials will also accompany the CM on his trip to the US.
During his trip to the United States, the CM will attend the expat meeting of Loka Kerala Sabha in New York. It is also expected that he will also have talks with World Bank officials on June 12.
On his journey to Cuba, CM Pinarayi Vijayan will be joined by Health Minister Veena George, the vice chairman of the Planning Board, the chief secretary, and the secretary of the Health Department.
Earlier, the Central Government denied permission for the CM’s trip to the UAE for an investment meeting. This was done because the event did not have the importance that required the Chief Minister’s participation.
