Local body by-elections in Kerala; results will be announced today

Thiruvananthapuram: Results of the by-elections to 19 wards are set to be announced today. By-elections were held in two Corporations, two Municipalities and fifteen Gram Panchayats in a total of nine districts across the state. The counting of votes began today at 10am.

The voting turnout for the election held a couple of days ago recorded a good polling percentage in all the wards. The voting began at 7am and went on until 6pm on May 29. A total of 60 candidates, with 29 of them being women, are awaiting the results of the by-election.

 District wise categorization of wards where elections were contested:

1.     Thiruvananthapuram: Muttada (Muncipal Corporation), Kaanaara (Gram Panchayat) in Pazhayakunnummel

2.     Kollam: Thazhamel (Gram Panchayat) in Anchal

3.     Pathanamthitta: Ward No. 5 (Gram Panchayat) in Mylapra

4.     Alappuzha: Cherthala Muncipal Office

5.     Kottayam: Puthanthodu (Muncipal Council), Mukkada (Gram Panchayat) in Manimala, and Perunilam (Gram Panchayat) in Poonjar

6.     Ernakulam: Thulusserikkavala (Gram Panchayat) in Nellikuzhi

7.     Palakkad: Bammannur (Gram Panchayat) in Peringottukurisshi, Parayamballam (Gram Panchayat) in Muthalamada, Akaloor East (Gram Panchayat) in Lekkidi Peroor, Kallummala (Gram Panchayat) in Kanjirappuzha, and Kappadam (Gram Panchayat) in Karimba

8.     Kozhikode: Chellya Town (Gram Panchayat) in Chengottukavu, Kanalad (Gram Panchayat) in Puthuppadi, and Kurichakam (Gram Panchayat) in Velam

9.     Kannur: Palllpram (Municipal Corporation) and Kakkonl (Gram Panchayat) in Cheruthaazham
