Kozhikode: The dead bodies of the two missing children, swept away by the tide while playing football near the sea, were recovered. The deceased were identified as Muhammad Adil and Adil Hassan, natives of Olavanna. Both of them went missing while playing near the sea yesterday morning. The bodies of the children were found after long hours of search operations. Adil Hassan’s body was found near Pulimuttu harbour around 4:45 a.m., while Muhammad Adil’s body was recovered at 11 p.m. last night.
The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Three children from the group of five who came to play football near Kozhikode Beach were swept away by the tide. Besides Adil Hassan and Muhammad Adil, the third one, who was also carried away by the tide, was rescued by the people nearby.
A search operation was conducted under the leadership of local residents and fishermen to find the children. A Coast Guard ship also reached the spot for the rescue operations. Fishermen said that the heavy rain in the bay adversely affected the rescue operation.
