Thiruvananthapuram: The deadline for linking Aadhaar-PAN was completed yesterday (June 30). The deadline for linking Aadhaar-PAN has passed without any official extension announcement. The Income Tax Department has stated that cases unable to complete the linking process, even after paying the penalty, will be treated separately.
Downloading the challan during payment for the linking process is no longer required. Instead, the payment status can be checked in the e-tax tab of the portal.
From July 1, all PAN cards that remain unlinked with Aadhaar will be rendered inactive, as communicated by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
Inactive PAN cards will result in the inability to file income tax returns and process pending returns. Furthermore, opening bank accounts will be hindered, as PAN cards cannot be used for depositing or withdrawing bank deposits.
