THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K. Surendran, the BJP state president, criticized the Kerala government for its refusal to accept the central government’s bye-laws of national level cooperative societies for agricultural loans. He accused that the state government is not accepting this in order to facilitate black money transactions. The bye-laws aim to establish a standardized working method for agricultural credit cooperative societies across the country.
The BJP State President said that incorporating cooperatives into a common software and integrating them into the online network under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) would enhance transparency. This would hamper the black money transactions. Surendran also highlighted that this stance by the state government would prevent the people of Kerala from benefiting from the central scheme worth Rs 1 lakh crore.
Surendran further criticized the state government’s policy of excluding farmers from schemes that provide loans and subsidies at a one percent interest rate. He pointed out that all other states have approved the by-laws and will participate in the scheme. Additionally, he accused the Kerala government of disregarding numerous central government schemes meant to benefit the people, suggesting that their reluctance to accept financial assistance from NABARD serves as an opportunity for corruption through black money transactions.
