KOTTAYAM: MVD sends challan notice for alleged traffic violation by parked car. This incident has shed light on the issue of erroneous data collection by AI cameras installed in Kerala, leading to unwarranted penalties being imposed on innocent individuals.
Saheel, a native of Kottayam, Kanjirappally, came forward to file a complaint against the MVD after receiving the notice. Surprisingly, the photograph accompanying the notice displayed a red Honda Jazz, whereas Saheel owns a white Hyundai Eon with the registration number KL 34 F 2454. It appears that an error occurred while recording the number of the offending vehicle, leading to this mix-up.
The notice demanded a fine of Rs 500, citing a violation related to sun film being pasted on the car’s windows. According to the notice, the alleged violation took place at Krishnanagar, Thiruvananthapuram, at 5:08 pm on Thursday. However, Saheel strongly claim, confirming that during the mentioned time, he was at home and his car was parked in front of his house as usual.
In light of this discrepancy, Saheel intends to report the error in the notice to the grievance redress cell of the MVD. This incident highlights the importance of ensuring accurate data collection and verification processes to prevent innocent citizens from being wrongly penalized.
