Ernakulam: BJP leader and actor Suresh Gopi visited Professor TJ Joseph after the court verdict in the hand chopping case. Suresh Gopi reached the professor’s home and interacted with him.
Suresh Gopi told the professor that he was more saddened when he heard about the death of his wife. The BJP leader said that it hurt his mind more than the chopping of the professor’s hand.
Suresh Gopi also wished for good things to come to the professor’s life.
Six PFI terrorists were condemned by a Special NIA court the other day for the attack on Newman College professor TJ Joseph for alleged blasphemy. His hand was chopped off in the attack. The NIA court handed down life imprisonment for three PFI terrorists and jail term of three years for the rest.
Professor TJ Joseph’s wife Salomi had committed suicide after she was mentally pressurized when the Newman College did not reinstate Professor TJ Joseph. The Christian management of the college was scared of the backlash from the Muslim community that it did not support Professor TJ Joseph in the blasphemy charges. Even after he was attacked brutally, the college did not support him and did not reinstate him.
This had mentally traumatized his wife that she took the extreme step.
